A Regional Committee is actively working towards raising funds to build a Pikes Peak Region Peace Officers’ Memorial in Colorado Springs to honor peace officers who have died in the line of duty while serving the communities within the Pikes Peak Region. Since 1896, 28 peace officers in El Paso and Teller Counties have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Regional committee is comprised of members from several of the law enforcement agencies within this region.
The estimated cost of the Memorial is one million dollars. A fund has been established through the Pikes Peak Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation for tax deductible contributions to be made. Once the Memorial has been constructed, an ongoing foundation will be established to assist out of town family members with transportation and lodging costs when attending the funeral of a fallen peace officer.
